What Is Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Programming for Mental Health?

Learn More About Missouri’s Leading Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program

Our intensive outpatient program for adolescents offers a supportive environment where patients can work toward their therapeutic goals and find a sense of success. Each young person in our EVOLVE adolescent IOP has the chance to experience empowerment, achieve personal growth, and deepen their self-confidence.

Our adolescent intensive outpatient program offers short-term treatment that can help young people reintegrate into regular home, school, and social settings after completing a higher level of care. Youths participate in about nine to 12 hours of therapy each week for about four weeks in our adolescent IOP. Our programming for adolescents caters to the specific needs of each patient, so your child’s length of participation will be unique to them.

We thoroughly evaluate each young person’s needs to determine the types of support that may work best for them. Our goal is to provide every child or adolescent in our IOP with the personalized, age-appropriate care they need to succeed. A young person’s IOP care plan can include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Basic medical care as needed
  • Individual therapy once a week
  • Group therapy multiple times a week

We’ve designed our adolescent IOP to support young people who are stepping down from a more in-depth form of care, such as our inpatient or residential program. With multiple locations in Springfield, Missouri, Lakeland Behavioral Health System offers a full continuum of care for adolescents. Our adolescent programming can help young people find lasting healing by offering continuity of care from inpatient through to outpatient services.

When you contact our team, an admissions specialist will ask you questions to identify the specific challenges your child may be facing. A member of our team will then review this information to determine whether our adolescent IOP or another program can best meet your child’s needs. Our adolescent intensive outpatient program can support those who have a range of mental health concerns. However, patients who are struggling with aggressive behavior may not be appropriate for this program.

At Lakeland Behavioral Health, we ensure that our intensive outpatient programming matches the needs of our patients. We also strive to help each child or adolescent feel empowered to play an active role in their healing journey. Our goal is to offer Missouri’s best adolescent intensive outpatient program and to serve as a source of personalized and compassionate care.

If you believe that our adolescent mental health intensive outpatient program may be right for your child, please contact our admissions team today. We offer free, confidential phone assessments 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help meet the needs of families and their loved ones.

Does Intensive Outpatient Programming Work?

Continued Care After Our Adolescent IOP

In our adolescent intensive outpatient program, EVOLVE, each person participates in care for the length of time that may be most helpful for them. Starting from the time of your child’s admission to our program, our multidisciplinary treatment team will begin planning for their aftercare needs. We help our adolescent patients make plans to continue their healing through services like outpatient therapy and other forms of counseling or continuing care. We work to ensure that each young person has access to ongoing support in their local area.

While planning for your child’s continued care, the multidisciplinary team will consider your loved one’s safety needs and the progress they’ve made during their time in our IOP. The team will also review your child’s or adolescent’s unique circumstances and recommend the services they believe will be most beneficial for them. Both the patient and their family members may participate in aftercare planning as valued members of the care team.

When you’re assessing whether an adolescent IOP or another outpatient program is right for your child, it may be helpful to ask about the continuity of care provided. Our Springfield intensive outpatient program for adolescents provides a smooth transition to care and a solid aftercare plan for your child’s next steps. Additionally, we are open and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week so that we can provide the most comprehensive and high-quality support for young people and their families while they participate in care.
