Acute Care Stabilization: (Ages 4 to 17)
These programs focus on a multi-structured assessment and evaluation, intensive treatment involving group, individual and family therapy, an accredited on-site school, medication evaluation and management by a psychiatrist and extensive discharge planning to link families with resources in the community. This program is short term in focus with the average length of stay between a few days to a couple of weeks. Between 3 different acute units Lakeland is able to structure treatment based on age, type of issue(s) being addressed and level of severity. [more on our adolescent acute care program]
Residential Treatment: (Ages 9 to 20)
These programs focus on medium to long term treatment for pre-adolescents, adolescents and young adults. These 4 distinct programs are designed to treat individuals for 3 months to a year while addressing ongoing issues related to the inability to maintain and thrive in their family system. These programs provide individual, family and group therapy, a multi-structured assessment and evaluation, an on-site psychiatrist directing treatment, a year-round on-site school with licensed teachers and full accreditation. Lakeland provides dual diagnosis programming to address substance abuse issues and break the cycle of addiction. Beginning the first day and throughout treatment the therapist and case manager will develop a relapse prevention/safety plan to provide the individual and family with continued support and treatment after transition home.
Lakeland’s dedicated Emergency Department is always available 24 hours a day to provide a free confidential assessment and consultation. If you are overwhelmed, confused or in a crisis we are here for support and direction. We offer free transportation services to and from the facility to assist families in their time of need.
Lakeland has a variety of recreational amenities to help patients relax and exercise. These amenities include a swimming pool, gymnasium, weight room, an indoor activity room, picnic area, basketball court, and outdoor playgrounds
Our clinical philosophy centers on CBT, which is based on the premise that changing dysfunctional thinking is the key to overcoming negative feelings and behaviors in children and adolescents. Our programs rely on coordinated interventions by multidisciplinary teams to deliver care. In addition to being guided by CBT, our staff is fully trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Developed by Cornell University, TCI is aimed at minimizing the need to restrain/seclude children as part of treatment. TCI has helped Lakeland Regional Hospital achieve significant reductions in both restraints and seclusions.
